President: Shauna Newsome, Boys With Toys Storage
Shauna Newsome and her family enjoyed countless years camping and boating in Sicamous, and in September 2012 she and her husband became permanent residents when Shauna took a position with Sicamous Park Estates and Boys With Toys Storage as the property manager. Previously she was employed in the financial and tourism industries in Jasper, Banff, Lake Louise, and Revelstoke. Shauna volunteered her services as a director in 2014 and was elected as Vice President for 2015 and President for 2017.
Past President: Neil Millar, Waterway Houseboat Vacations
Neil Millar is currently the chief operating officer for both Waterway Houseboat Vacations and BC Central Reservations. He has been in the tourism business in many capacities since 1978. He has worked at the Lake Louise ski resort for 23 years, Hemlock Valley Resort, and Waterway Houseboats for the past 10 years. His experience includes being a human resources director, hotel manager, food and beverage manager, general manager and finally chief operating officer.
Vice President: Sheila Devost, Work BC
Sheila Devost is the case manager at the Work BC office in Sicamous. She currently sits on the Boards of the Sicamous and District Chamber of Commerce and the Eagle Valley Community Support Society, as well she is one of the Official Community Plan committee members. Highlights of Sheila’s career include establishing a Visitor Information Centre within a multi-partnered facility and being one of the initial Board of Directors and Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee for a the regional tourism organization in southwestern Ontario.
Secretary: Victoria Cameron, the Happy Corkers Wine & Gifts
Victoria Cameron is the owner of Happy Corkers Wine and Gifts. After spending many summers and most vacations here, she became a permanent resident with her young daughter almost 4 years ago. With previous experience working as a social worker for Children’s Services for 15 years, sitting on numerous Boards, and volunteering many hours, Victoria sees the potential for growth and community and visitor involvement in our area. As a business owner, homeowner, parent, and citizen, she looks forward to being actively involved in bettering our community.
Treasurer: Eldon Kralkay, SASCU
Eldon Kralkay has been the Sicamous Branch Manager of SASCU Credit Union since August 2015. His Credit Union career spans over 24 years in like-sized communities throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta, and BC. Eldon has held many volunteer roles within various organizations and community groups including Rotary, economic development, regional parks, and chambers of commerce. As a resident of Sicamous, Eldon appreciates the recreation, lifestyle, and sense of community Sicamous offers. He looks forward to serving and contributing to the well-being of our community.
Director: Peter Schrama, Moose Mulligans
Peter has had the pleasure of being a resident and business owner in Sicamous for the past 20 years. Over those years he has been able work with many other business owners and residents in many capacities. He has been a Board member of the Chamber of Commerce twice during that time and has been lucky enough to help contribute thoughts and ideas that help shape some of the great programs the Chamber has brought to our wonderful community.
Director: Gavin Vogel, Bayview Homes
Gavin Vogel is a partner in Bayview Homes, a local home building company, which employs around 8 people directly and a number more indirectly. Gavin and his Bayview partners are passionate about the economic and social development of Sicamous, and by being a Chamber Board member he hopes to promote the above. Gavin is an Eagle Valley Rescue Society Board member as well and enjoys camping in his free time.
Director: Jenn Piekarczyk, OK Strata Management/Pacific Quorum Strata Management
Jenn moved to Sicamous with her 2 children in 2008 from Calgary, Alberta, where she obtained employment with Shuswap Strata Management. She has enjoyed working alongside the Strata Community of full-time owners and the seasonal owners that enjoy the Shuswap every year. Shuswap Strata Management was purchased by Okanagan Strata Management and are currently now part of the Pacific Quorum Strata Management team. Jenn enjoys everything Sicamous has to offer and would like to give back to the community by volunteering her time.
Director: Violet Pilkey, Independent Contractor
Violet is currently the president of the Eagle Valley Community Support Society, the financial officer for the Shuswap District Arts Council, the assistant literacy outreach coordinator at the Literacy Alliance of the Shuswap Society, and an administrative/bookkeeping contractor to multiple short-term and long-term clients in the Shuswap area. She also recently enrolled in a Non-profit Management Certificate program through Simon Fraser University’s distance education department. Administration, financial management, communications and community building are her focus.
Director: Ryan Airey, Fruit World
Ryan Airey has been the owner of Fruit World since 2007. He moved to Sicamous from nearby Malakwa in 2010 (where he had lived since 1986) to be closer to his friends and business. Previously Ryan worked for the District and other local businesses in various roles. As a resident and business owner, he is very excited to grow with Sicamous and contribute to the community. Through Fruit World he aims to support the local agricultural community and food producers while attracting more visitors to Sicamous.
